You cannot meet a soulmate through external efforts or particular opportunities. If the question concerns the prospects of a relationship with a specific person, reversed Lovers advise abandoning hopes for a positive resolution. Unfortunately, it will not happen. If the spread pertains to the possibility (or impossibility) of marriage, the reversed Lovers predict failed matrimonial intentions. For single individuals asking about prospects in their personal life, this card is highly pessimistic.
Many authors believe it conveys more clearly than the Hermit or the Hanged Man that, at this stage of life, the person is unlikely to find a partner. The only advice it offers is to truly learn to love oneself, regardless of whether a partner is present or not, and to treat oneself as a valuable and worthy individual. We can only accept that we deserve to be loved when we treat ourselves well, independent of how “successful” our personal life is.
